Ascend Ability Athletics exists to help individuals with intellectual disabilities, volunteers, families, and organizations build meaningful connections through sports and recreation. Every member of our community deserves to feel respected, supported, and safe.
Treat Everyone With Respect
- Use kind and respectful language.
- Be patient and supportive.
- Respect different communication styles and abilities.
- Celebrate differences and encourage inclusion.
Build Genuine Friendships
- Focus on friendship, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Encourage participation and confidence.
- Support others without judgment.
Safety First
- Never pressure someone into activities they are uncomfortable with.
- Respect personal boundaries.
- Meet only through approved events and activities when appropriate.
- Follow guardian and organization guidelines.
Appropriate Communication
Allowed:
- Friendly conversations
- Sports discussions
- Event planning
- Encouragement and support
Not Allowed:
- Bullying
- Harassment
- Hate speech
- Discrimination
- Threats
- Inappropriate content
- Repeated unwanted messages
Protect Privacy
- Do not share personal information publicly.
- Respect confidentiality.
- Obtain permission before sharing photos or stories.
Volunteer Expectations
Volunteers should:
- Serve as positive role models.
- Demonstrate patience and empathy.
- Follow organization policies.
- Report safety concerns immediately.
Organization Expectations
Organizations should:
- Create inclusive opportunities.
- Maintain safe environments.
- Communicate clearly with participants and families.
Reporting Concerns
If you experience or witness inappropriate behavior:
- Use the Report feature.
- Contact platform administrators.
- Reach out to a guardian or trusted adult if immediate assistance is needed.
Enforcement
Violations may result in:
- Warning
- Temporary suspension
- Permanent account removal
